Notice Regarding Rising Cost And HPN's Premium Pet Food Products & Supplies
Dear Valued Customer,
As you already know, fuel and food prices have rocketed to record levels over the last year. I see it every time I fill up at the pump and shop for groceries, and I know you have, too. Experts are saying that we will soon be paying $4.00 a gallon for gas. And food costs are rising faster this year than they have in nearly two decades.
Here, at Trilogy and HealthyPetNet, we have been hit with several sharp price increases for the ingredients that are featured in the recipes for Life’s Abundance, Instinctive Choice and our line of baked treats, including:
- 95% increase in vegetable oil
- 64% increase in premium chicken meal
- 41% increase in chicken fat
- 36% increase in oat groats
- 31% increase in brown rice
- 29% increase in premium fish meal
At the same time, our transportation and shipping costs have increased as well, due to the ever-rising price of gas. We have fought to keep costs down. However, the increases you are seeing in your local grocery store and at the pump are to a large extent the same we are dealing with in the production of our products.
You know that we work very hard to provide the highest-quality foods and baked treats for your companion animals. We have never skimped on ingredients because we simply will not tolerate a diminishment in quality. When it comes to companion animals, their health always comes before considerations of cost. I think that we all recognize that providing the best for our families comes at a premium, and all of us here have worked tirelessly to keep that premium at a minimum for our family of Field Reps and customers.
To be able to continue providing these superior products for companion animals, we must implement a moderate increase in the prices of these products effective May 8th. The new prices for these products are listed at the end of this email.
I encourage you to tell your customers that, even with the price increase, Life’s Abundance remains competitively priced compared to other brands of premium foods. For the average dog of 30 pounds, the daily feeding cost will be 60 cents a day (at 1 ½ cups). And, for a cat weighing 12 pounds, the cost will be 29 cents a day (at ½ cup). The increase for dog food is only five cents a day and cat food only one cent a day! This remains an excellent price for our nutrient-dense premium health foods. (Daily costs based on the new Autoship prices of a 20 lb bag of dog food and 6.6 lb bag of cat food.)
You will find a downloadable revised price list with a short explanation on the increase in the "Documents & Training" section of the web site tomorrow. I encourage you to use this as an insert for any current catalogs that you still have, prior to distributing them to prospective customers.
SAVE MONEY ON SHIPPING!
To help offset the increase in cost, why not talk to your customers about ordering twice what they need for each order. This will double the amount of time between Autoships and result in substantial savings, since they will effectively be cutting their shipping costs in half! When possible, I suggest ordering two small bags as opposed to one large bag, as this will keep the food fresher.

While the first five ingredients play a significant role in the nutritional make-up of your cat’s food, every single ingredient is important. For nearly a decade, tens of thousands of dogs and cats have been eating and thriving on Life’s Abundance foods. We attribute this success to our painstaking attention to the detail. Each and every ingredient in Life’s Abundance food is carefully chosen to work with all the others to supply your companion animal with a highly nutritious and perfectly balanced meal every day, every year over a lifetime.
HIGH-QUALITY PROTEINS – Proteins are the building blocks of all living organisms. Protein is essential for all bodily functions including those of the brain, heart, skin, skeleton and many others. Life’s Abundance cat food contains at least 33% of high-quality protein. Look for identifiable animal proteins such as "chicken meal" rather generic terms like "poultry meal," which can consist of any fowl (turkey, chicken, geese, etc.).
CHICKEN MEAL - Some foods contain chicken meat or chicken parts, which naturally hold a fair amount of water. We prefer to use chicken meal because most of the water has been removed, which makes it a concentrated source of protein. This means that there is a greater “protein content” in one pound of chicken meal versus one pound of chicken meat. That’s why high-quality chicken meal is a key ingredient in Life’s Abundance foods, as well as catfish and turkey meals.
WHOLE GRAINS - Whole grains are an excellent source of protein, fiber, B vitamins, iron, zinc and other essential minerals. They also provide the kind of carbohydrates that deliver sustained energy to your cat. We include the natural goodness of Ground Brown Rice in Life’s Abundance Cat Food.
